“I’m excited to share my experience with the association and all involved with the sport here. I hope to help grow the game here, and help grow the national programs.” He told the CIFA website.

McGreskin, born in Scotland, has experience as an assistant at Partick Thistle and Dundee United in his home country and is the former technical director of the Bahamas FA.

There he also coached the men and women’s national teams at senior and youth level.

The Scotsman has identified his biggest hurdle, getting people to play football. He has ideas in place for how to keep people playing the sport.

“I did some research and got the understanding that a lot of sporting codes are all picking from the same pool of athletes as the population is so small and everyone plays multiple sports.

“So, we need to give the people some exposure to the sport and we need to help provide a high-quality experience for them so that football can become more attractive in their eyes and also influence them to say that’s football is their number one sport,” he told CIFA.

McGreskin will now have the task to give the Cook Islands a good platform and will work closely with the men and women’s Head Coaches Kevin Fallon and Judith Kuipers.
