The first ever Solrais Women’s Premier League has just finished in the Solomon Islands, and it was a narrow title win for RSIPF Royals.
The title battle went down to the final matchday, where Royals met Naha.
RSIPF Royals were top of the table, with a two point lead over Naha, who could snatch the league title with a win.
And it was the women in red who struck first. Joy Timo put Naha ahead after 23 minutes, but only two minutes later Sandra Wale levelled the scores.
After a narrow first half, the score was 1-1.
Over in the second, the title decider would come after 67 minutes of play.
And it was Royals captain Laydah Samani who put the finishing touch on the title-winning season, scoring her 10th goal of the season.
That meant that RSIPF Royals could celebrate a well-earned victory in the first ever Solrais Women’s Premier League.
Elsewhere, Koloale FC pipped Naha to second place on the final day of the tournament, with an impressive 6-0 win over last-placed Haura FC.
Koloale finished one point above Naha in the standings.
They also secured the top goalscorer title, with the team’s Ileen Pegi scoring a massive 29 goals over the 14 league games.
