Solomon Islands announce Futsal World Cup squad

The 16 man strong Solomon Islands futsal team for the World Cup in Lithuania has been announced.

“The 16 players are home-based players who have been training for the past five months under the guidance of assistant coach Francis Lafai & trainer Nelson Kabitana,” the Solomon Islands Football Federation wrote in a press release.

Due to travel restrictions Australia-based players James Egeta and Jack Whitney have not been picked in the squad by head coach Vinicius Leite.

“The team will leave on Friday 30th July 2021 for the European camp and play several friendly matches against some International teams in Poland and Croatia.

“Coach Vinicius Leite said he is confident that the team is consist of the best players we have in the country,” the press release said.

The FIFA Futsal World Cup will take place in Lithuania from September 12th until October 3rd. The Kurukuru have been drawn in Group C which will take place in Kaunas, and will face Portugal, Thailand and Morocco.
