And in the end it was one of the two pre-favourites who would come out on top, with Cook Islands side Tupapa Maraerenga advancing.

The Cook Islands team were in the qualifiying group with hosts Vaivase-Tai from Samoa, Tongan side Nukuhetulu and Pago Youth from American Samoa.

Tupapa started their road to the main stage of the competition by beating Nukuhetulu 3-0 in the opening match.

A 1-1 draw with Vaivase-Tai in the second match, meant that they had it all in their own hands when taking on Pago Youth.

And in a match that they quickly took control over, they came out 3-0 winners.

Tupapa will now slot into the main tournament in Fiji, set to be played in August.
