They plan to play several other minnows in the USA, in what will be the teams first ever “full eleven size team” football match.

“We are delighted to announce that Turks & Caicos, the US Virgin Islands, and Guam will join us in Arkansas, the United States of America, between the 11th and 17th August 2025 to compete in an exciting 4-team international soccer tournament,” they wrote in a statement on their newly launched Kickstarter page.

The tournament will be called the Outrigger Cup and be played in Springdale, Arkansas. The city is home to the largest Marshallese community outside of the islands, according to MIFF.

“Okay, so we could just host a single opponent – that would be difficult enough. But we want to make an unforgettable statement of intent to mark our arrival onto the international stage. That’s why we’ve invited 3 established FIFA members to join us and compete in the Outrigger Cup – the world’s newest international football tournament,” MIFF wrote.

The Marshall Islands have previously hosted a futsal version of the Outrigger Cup tournament, where Kiribati came out on top.

There will be a total of 4 fixtures, played at John Brown University, in Springdale, Arkansas.

Thursday, 14th August:
Semi-final 1 & Semi-final 2

Saturday, 16th August:
3rd place play-off & the 2025 Outrigger Cup Final

  1. Brilliant news. It’s a step in the right direction and hopefully the tournament will grow to include teams associated with the USA. Good luck guys 👍
