The Solomon Islands international has been invited to Tarxien Rainbows FC who play in the Maltese Premier League.
The side is rock bottom of the league and could therefore probably use a winger of Nawo’s qualities but time to get the funding is into the final run in.
The trial has been organized by the Netherlands Oceania Support Foundation (NOS), but the Maltese team will not cover any expenses for Nawo’s travel and living costs.
The Netherlands Oceania Support Foundation is a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands. Their work can be divided in three objectives: recruitment of professional Dutch coaches for OFC nations, organizing training camps in The Netherlands for national teams from Oceania and creating opportunities for talents from Oceania that want to have a career in Europe.
The organization is most known in Oceania for bringing Foppe de Haan to Tuvalu (2011), Judith Kuipers to Cook Islands Women’s team in 2019 and Wim Rijsbergen and Jan van Deinsen as coaches for the Solomon Islands.
The deadline for securing Nawo’s funding has already been extended once.
“Things change rapidly in Europe so there is no time to lose for Joses. Tarxien Rainbows FC is an ambitious club with great facilities. It is essential for any premier league club in Europe to know what to expect. The fact that Tarxien Rainbows FC invites Joses Nawo is already quite something. You can image that his profile competes with hundreds of applicants from all over the world dreaming to make it to Europe. So having his trial budget prepared should be a top priority. The Maltese Premier League kicks off for the second half of the season at the 10th of January. Tarxien Rainbows FC needs time to examine Joses Nawo so he has to earn this contract with a successful trial,” explains NOS founder Paul Driessen.
The bar set for the fundraiser is at €3,000 and the deadline is set at January 8th.
