It’s time for the first ever OFC Women’s Champions League!

The tournament will consist of five teams, Hekari United from hosts Papua New Guinea, Labasa from Fiji, Koloale from Solomon Islands, Kiwi from Samoa and Academy Féminine from New Caledonia.

New Zealand’s Eastern Suburbs were supposed to take part but withdrew a short time before the tournament was set to start.

Eastern Suburbs have not responded to Football in Oceania’s request for a comment about why they decided to pull out of the historic tournament, but in an interview with Friends of Football, cited concerns about costs, timing and security.

The tournament will be played as a league format, with all teams playing the others once. The tournament runs from June 1st to 10th.

  1. More chance for another Oceania country to win without NZ. Why can we not have a South East Asian tournament with NZ and an Oceania team?
