Cook Islands to host new tournament
The Cook Islands Football Association announced the new tournament on Friday, and the competition is set to take place in mid-April.
The Cook Islands Football Association announced the new tournament today, Friday, and the competition is set to take place in mid-April.

The new tournament will be participated by both men and women and the tournament will “shine the spotlight on Rarotonga and the outer islands, as it will bring together the best football talent from around the Cook Islands,” according to a statement made on the CIFA Facebook page.
The tournament will consist of eight teams and the teams will be drawn in to two groups of four. The teams will play each other once and the top two teams will go through to the semi-finals.
The tournament is set to be held over eight days, from 14th of April to 21st of April.
The eight participating teams which will bring teams for both the men’s and women’s tournament sees most notably 2018 OFC Champions League participant, and qualification winner, Tupapa Maraerenga not included, although last year’s O-League participant Puaikura is named.
The full list of teams are: Aitutaki, Atiu, Mangaia, Mitiaro, Mauke, Avarua, Takitumu and Puaikura.
