The Facebook post from the Vanuatu Football Federation reads:

“VFF Executive withdraws Vanuatu from the FIFA World Cup ™ Oceania Qualifiers.”

In an update they give more information:

“The positive cases must isolate for a minimum period of 7 days. Vanuatu’s next match day is in the next two days, on Sunday 20 March, and VFF do not have sufficient time to replace the players and officials. The current circumstances are beyond their control, therefore VFF has opted to withdraw from the competition. Therefore the Committee resolved that Vanuatu will withdraw from the competition.”

The news comes after the first match against Tahiti was called off due to a corona virus outbreak in the Vanuatu camp.

The news has so far not been confirmed or commented on by the Oceania Football Confederation.
